| The
UCBL existed for two years on the University Hill west of the CU-Boulder
campus. In its largest season, there were 30 teams (60 people) meeting
at three houses every Friday night to play beer pong (beirut).
We called ourselves
the University of Colorado Beirut League, but the title is completely
unofficial, as we were not directly tied to the University of Colorado,
nor would they associate with a league surrounding a drinking game.

The
league began when a couple of friends and myself were sitting around
one Sunday morning in a hungover haze, bull-shitting about what
we had done the previous night. We all had been playing a lot of
beer pong, so I suggested that we set up a season with friends and
keep track of the stats.
We
kicked the first season off in the Spring of 2004, and began hammering
out all of the details. Word spread about the league and we were
able to get sixteen teams in the first season. Fridays became an
official beer pong night, something every one of us in the league
looked forward to.
